SHANGHAI International Studies University (SISU) is going to build a campus in Minhang next year.
Xue Peijian, deputy director-general of Shanghai Municipal Education Commission made the announcement at the signing ceremony held for the new SISU International Education Co-operative College on Tuesday. "Minhang has its great advantages," said Xue, referring to its convenient public transport facilities to downtown areas, the successful example of Shanghai Jiaotong University Minhang campus and the booming Economic & Technological Development Zone in the district. Shanghai Jiaotong University was the first to choose Minhang to build a campus. SISU, a famous foreign languages university in Shanghai, decided to build new campuses on the outskirts to accommodate more students because existing campuses were too cramped and the limited space of the city prevented their expansion. . The new SISU college is the fruit of efforts by three parties. Shanghai Minhang United Development Company will provide the hardware: campus, class buildings and teaching equipment. Shanghai Shenlian Company will provide funding and SISU will provide the teaching staff and the teaching managerial systems. The new institute of higher learning is a full-time boarding college and is scheduled to start recruiting students in the fall of 2000. Shanghai Star |
